18th March-Pinterest

Today's challenge is a Pinterest challenge! Are you addicted to Pinterest yet?! Valerie picked us a lovely photo from Pinterest to inspire your layouts!
Here it is:

Here is what the design team came up with!

Valerie

I loved the shape of the flowers and the bright colors in the photos. I used my Silhouette to cut a similar shape from a mix of bright patterns.

Jules

I took inspiration from the fabulous photo in two ways - firstly I echoed the bright colours with my choice of papers (Echo Park), and secondly I included these cute handmade crochet flowers to give my page extra dimension.

Anna
I loved the photo so much I copied it! I cut out the flower shapes from paper and laid them on my card stock and misted over them I then hand stitched around the shapes and painted inside them and added button centres to finish!

Katherine

I love all the colours in the pin so I took these for my inspiration as well as using an interlocking pattern, I chose hexagons.  This is one of our more recent snow pictures and I love snow (fortunately so do the kids) so we spent an afternoon sledging and having a go on a new flat sledge board...which was great, but somehow we managed to come down on it backwards so this is me and my son having laughed most of the way down the slope.

Daphne
Four-leaved flowers!? No problem for me! I love Hortensias so I chose one of my many photos I made at Stourhead Gardens (Wiltshire)! The colours as well fit to this weeks inspiration - and the flower punches by Martha Stewart!

Jan

Such a great inspiration photo!  I was inspired by the colours and the shapes of the flowers reminded me a little of a pinwheel so I made one and added it as my embellishment.

Guest Designer Elena:
I love love love bright colours!

4th March- Chevrons

This weeks challenge is 'As it's all the trend in the scrappy world at the moment, create a layout with chevrons on it, in anyway way you can think of!
There are loads of inspiration for chevrons around the internet lately, I found some great ones on Pinterest too!

Here is what the design team came up with:
Anna

I made my chevrons and then hand stitched in between them!

Daphne

I love Chevron Paper and seeing the new line by Fancy Pants Designs "Be You." made my heart beat faster! The Chevron paper in this collection is not in a regular pattern - there are bold lines and thin ones as well as mixed colours! Really love it! Perfect for the little friend in my picture!

Jan

While I adore the look of chevrons and love what I see other people do with them, I have a hard time incorporating them into my scrapping in a creative way so I made them my focal point in the circle on my layout.  I added some hand stitching around the circle to anchor it.

Katherine

I love the new trendy chevron pattern, and I incorporated geometric pattern that I've seen about quite a lot (in particular a page by Lisa Truesdell.)  I used a couple of different style chevron papers and then used my arrow stamp to make all the embossed white chevrons (which is also why they go a bit wonky in places).  This is my first page featuring my new nephew, getting a special cuddle from my son, I love the look of adoration on his face as he carefully held his new cousin and this is documented in the journalling behind.

Jules

I've used two kinds of chevron in this layout - the first is one of the gorgeous patterns in the Echo Park "This & That: Graceful" collection, which I've used at the top and bottom of my layout, and the second is the handmade chevron block to the right of the photo.

Val
I love chevrons as a graphic element but I also love how they serve as little arrows to guide your eye across a page. I used them here with that in mind. They definitely add movement to a page!

Guest Designer Elena

For me chevron paper and its repeating pattern  was love at first sight. And love is always good for the soul :)

I hope we've inspired you to play along with us this month! To sweeten the deal we've got a $15 gift certificate to Scrapbook.com up for grabs. Link up your projects on the sidebar for any of the challenges in March and you will be entered to win. Looking forward to seeing your chevron projects!
